IT HAS come to my attention a fierce amount of dog excrement is being excreted on public areas around Sligo town. As a dog owner myself I sympathise with other dog owners who clean up after their dogs. But there is a minority of dog owners out there who flout convention regarding cleaning after their dog.

I AM writing re the proposal by Mary Harney to force yet another charge on the poor and sick that are unable to pay. I am seriously ill and existing on Disability Allowance and studying for Leaving Cert to go to University and be an accountant should I live that long.

Council should be abolished

THE recent coverage in the local media was a wonderful synopsis of how incapable our local council is. First one reads an article about the re-opening of O’Connell Street at a cost of some €100,000, even though I believe more money is needed to open it before Christmas.

East ward resident against street closure

HAVING heard Minister Finneran last week, I believe, as an east ward resident, a parent of young children and someone who cares passionately about my city’s future, that there is considerable vindication in the Minister’s words, of the campaign in which I have been involved, that is, our protest against the reopening of O’Connell Street to traffic.
